UKGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings: A Framework Definition was developed with extensive industry consultation and sets out paths to achieving net zero carbon buildings within the United Kingdom. It proposes approaches for assets seeking to achieve net zero for both construction and operational energy, whilst beginning to provide a future direction for addressing whole life carbon.


UKGBC’s Advancing Net Zero programme is leading the UK’s transition to a net zero carbon built environment , and this webinar series will take an in-depth look at some of the key resources currently available. This webinar series also serves as a brilliant introduction to the.


In April, as part of our Advancing Net Zero programme, UKGBC will be launching a framework definition for net zero carbon buildings for the UK market. The framework has been developed by an industry task group of over 40 businesses and non-profit organisations from across the built environment, with the aim of building consensus and informing policy and industry practice.

Climate change has risen rapidly up the agenda in 2019, and the Committee on Climate Change has recommended a strengthening of the UK’s climate change targets – to deliver net zero carbon across the whole economy by 2050. Our buildings have a key role to play in delivering this, which is the focus of UKGBC’s Advancing Net Zero programme.


Advancing Net Zero is WorldGBC’s global project working towards total sector decarbonisation by 2050. Working with Green Building Councils across the network to develop tools, programmes and resources to promote the urgency and achievability of net zero carbon buildings and build industry capacity to deliver them.
